Wellbeing for activists

Welcome, I’m Miles.

I’m a vegan psychotherapist and activist living in Oxford.

I’ve partnered with Tracks Investigations to offer you three complimentary wellbeing sessions with me at the end of an investigation, either online or in person. This page shares a little more about me and what the sessions involve.

I completed my training at the University of Oxford, and I’m an accredited member of the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP).

I’m committed to supporting people involved in activism and helping make this work sustainable.

I offer a confidential, non-judgemental space where you can pause, reflect, and talk through what feels most important to you.

If you’d like to get a better sense of me and the sessions, you’re very welcome to watch this short video introduction.

How might these sessions help?

When we first meet, I’ll ask how you would like to use the sessions and what would be most helpful for you. If you’re not sure, that’s completely normal – we can explore how the sessions might best support you. Here are some of the ways investigators have used the sessions:

Reflecting on the experience
A confidential space to talk about what you experienced, what stood out, and anything that has stayed with you. We can explore the emotional or physical impact of the work and what felt most significant or challenging.

Addressing anything that’s affecting you
Sometimes experiences from the work can continue to affect investigators afterwards. If memories or experiences are contributing to low mood, anxiety, sleep difficulties or other problems, we can explore these together and work on what may help.

Supporting your wellbeing afterwards
We can look at what helps you cope as you return to everyday life, including ways to decompress, reset and manage the transition. Where useful, we can also explore practical strategies or techniques to support your wellbeing.

Checking how you’re doing
The sessions provide an opportunity to step back and look at how you’re doing overall, including noticing any signs that you may need some additional support. If appropriate, we can discuss what support is available and I can help you find it.

Keeping perspective
We can also take time to recognise the positive impact or meaning the work may hold for you, and what you want to take from the experience going forward.

These are simply areas we can explore. The sessions will focus on what feels most important to you.

When can I use these sessions?

The three sessions are yours to use in whichever way would be most helpful to you. You might use them days after the investigation, weeks later, or even months later. The sessions can be spaced a week apart, or further apart if you prefer.

All sessions must be used within 12 months from the completion of an investigation.

If you’d like to continue with further sessions after your three complimentary sessions, up to six additional sessions are available at a reduced rate of £40 per session.

Are these sessions confidential?

Our conversation is confidential, and what you share will not be passed on to others without your consent.

In very rare situations some aspects of confidentiality may need to be broken, such as if there is a serious concern about your safety or the safety of someone else, or if the law requires certain information to be disclosed (for example, in response to a court order). If this were ever to arise, I would discuss it with you first.

What we talk about remains private and will not be shared with others involved in the investigation, including Gem at Tracks Investigations. You are also free to choose what you do or don’t wish to share during the sessions.

As an accredited member, I adhere to the BABCP Standards of Conduct, Performance and Ethics.
